The principal house of our Mother Community is located in the Archdiocese of Saigon, Vietnam. In 1975, some of our sisters escaped the threat of the Vietnamese Civil War by moving to Australia. Later, they moved to Springfield, Missouri and from there, several sisters came to serve in Lincoln. By 1998, the Community in America became a Region of the Motherhouse in Vietnam.

The Sisters living in Lincoln, with the desire to remain faithful to the original charism of the Mother Community, received permission from their founder, Father Bernard Maria Bùi Khải Hoàn, and the current Superior General at that time in Vietnam to maintain their constitutions independently of the Region. The Diocesan Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Mercy was established by Bishop Bruskewitz on May 4, 1999.
